Pharmacodynamics
Pharmacodynamics has to do with what the drug physically does to our bodies. Pharmacokynetics are how they move within us, or what we do to them. What makes beta blockers do what they do?
Dosage
There is no simple correlation between dosing and effect, or any set dosage for all beta blockers. There are wide ranges of effective doses for the drugs and their desired effects. For example, atenolol is often prescribed to treat hypertension in doses from 25-50mg, up to 100mg per day, whereas metoprolol, when treating hypertension, can be up to 450mg per day. (McAuley, 2016)
